ORANGE RENEWS 2-4-1 TICKET DEAL WITH CINEMA INDUSTRY AND EXTENDS OFFER TO INTERNET CUSTOMERS 2 January 2007
Orange today announced that it will continue its 2-4-1 cinema ticket deal – Orange Wednesdays – into 2008 and will now extend the offer beyond its mobile customers to include its two million Internet customers.
Orange customers have texted FILM to 241 on a Wednesday, and got two cinema tickets for the price of one in movie theatres across the UK.
UK, despite a global downturn in admissions. During its first 30 months, the initiative delivered more than 2 million incremental¹ cinema admissions. It has also served as a useful retention tool for Orange in one of Europe’s most competitive phone markets.
Hattie Evans, Head of Film for Orange, said: “Orange Wednesdays is unique in so many ways. It enables us to give something back to our customers while making a positive impact on the UK cinema industry. It has changed the way audiences engage with their local cinemas and has helped swell audience numbers across the country.
Orange, its customers and the cinema industry have benefited since its launch in 2004. Independent research shows that Orange is the brand that consumers most associate with film outside of the movie space and Orange Wednesdays has played a key part in that.”
Grace Carley, Managing Director of All Industry Marketing, commented: “Orange Wednesdays has the advantage of appealing to all aspects of our membership, in that it not only promotes cinema going but also raises the profile of film in this country, and emphasises the benefit of seeing films in the cinema. Our partnership with a brand of the calibre of Orange has proven itself a natural fit, and I am delighted that it is now set to continue. “

AIM appoints new Managing Director AIM APPOINTS GRACE CARLEY AS MANAGING DIRECTOR
16 November 2006
All Industry Marketing (AIM) – the industry coalition agency tasked with developing the UK’s cinema – today announced the appointment of Grace Carley - a marketing and distribution veteran - as their new Managing Director.
AIM’s membership includes the Film Distributors’ Association, the Cinema Exhibitors’ Association, the Cinema Advertisers’ Association and the UK Film Council. It is responsible for a variety of cinema-going campaigns, particularly the highly successful Orange Wednesdays promotion.
Grace Carley began her film career as Director of Marketing for the Irish Film Board, and subsequently ran her own international film sales and financing companies out of London and Los Angeles, representing a variety of emerging young film-making talent including Peter Jackson and Bryan Singer. She sold her Stranger Than Fiction film sales company to Knatchbull Communications in 2000 and subsequently joined the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, where she held a number of senior positions, including Head of Arts Funding.
"I am excited about taking on the challenge that AIM represents and feel that it is an ideal fit with my combined commercial and public sector experience." Carley commented. "I am convinced that there are significant segments of the population that can be developed into more regular cinema-goers, and that there are major issues to be addressed, particularly piracy and the threats and opportunities presented by new technologies. The industry-wide membership of AIM, together with Orange’s sponsorship, gives us a strong and unified platform from which to continue the very successful Orange Wednesdays offer and to explore new initiatives."
Barry Jenkins, AIM Chairman added, “I am delighted that Grace has agreed to join us and believe that we have a person with the drive to make a much needed impact on behalf of the industry.”
